Eastfield College invites you to Study Spanish and/or learn how to incorporate Cultural Diversity into the educational classroom in Spain

CDEC 1395.4270: Communication and Culture:  Cultural Diversity in the Early Childhood Classroom
The course will involve visits to major cities in Spain, including Madrid, Alcala de Henares, and surrounding cities. Navigating a foreign country where the primary language is Spanish will provide students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in another culture, enhance their cultural sensitivity, and incorporate these cross-cultural experiences into the teaching profession, particularly in early childhood education. (3 Lec.)

SPANISH 1311.4260: Beginning Spanish Conversation 1 
It is an introductory course intended for students with little or no knowledge of the language. Its aim is to present essential vocabulary and grammar, and to develop the pronunciation, listening, reading, and writing skills necessary for basic communication and comprehension. Customs and cultural insights are also presented. (3 Lec., 1 Lab)
Continuing Education students register through the Continuing Education Office.

Cost:  *$2,900 plus tuition for 3 or 6 hour credit course
*Subject to change if airfare and college costs increase

In order to ensure air and hotel reservations, a deposit of $100 is mandatory and due no later than January 31, 2007.  The first payment of $900 is due no later than February 1, 2007.  The second payment of $1,000 is due February 15, 2007 and final payment of $900 is due no later than March 1, 2007. Monthly installments are permitted, as well.  Payments are to be made at the Business Office.

Estimated $2,900 cost includes:

  • Airfare
  • Transportation from Madrid-Alcala de Henares-Madrid
  • Rooming (double occupancy)
  • Three cafeteria meals daily, including weekends
  • Two optional fieldtrips
  • Use of the Internet
  • One laundry per week per student

Students can apply for the Richard D. McCrary International Scholarship to help pay the cost. Deadline for applications is March 15.
