A studio course provides students the opportunity to become physically and intellectual engaged in art making, to objectively discuss their work and the work of others and to develop through thoughtful practice a personal visual vernacular. I attempt to convey to the class what I know about my own practice of drawing and painting from direct observation. I also introduce techniques, procedures and materials that students may have not previously utilized in order to expand their view of the possibilities of artwork.
