GALLERY 219 MISSION STATEMENT:
Gallery 219, as an integral part of the Fine Art Department of Eastfield College, serves students in the studio art and art history courses of the Fine Art Department, the College community, and the larger community with a full annual schedule of diverse art exhibitions, supporting the understanding and creation of contemporary art. Concentrating primarily on innovative, significant works of contemporary fine art, exhibitions feature the work of regional and national professional artists, along with annual exhibitions by the fine art faculty and the studio art students of the College, enriching the aesthetic environment and comprising a cultural resource for the community. Curatorial essays displayed in the gallery accompany all professional exhibitions, illuminating the means by which the exhibitions reflect the current discourses and practices of contemporary art.

In addition to exhibitions in Gallery 219, artworks from the Eastfield College Permanent Art Collection are installed throughout the campus. All exhibitions and gallery events are free and open to the public.

The budget of the Eastfield College Art Department funds the position of Gallery Director, the Instructional Assistant, installation materials including lighting and pedestals, PR materials including invitations and posters, educational labels, photographic exhibition records, and special needs associated with exhibitions. SPAR provides limited additional support for refreshments served at receptions, which are open to the College and regional communities.
