Scholastic Probation

If you have completed a total of nine (9) credit hours with a performance grade of "A, B, C D or F" and have a grade point average based on GPA (1) of less than 2.0, you will be placed on scholastic probation.  While on scholastic probation, you may have coursework and total hours limited, but you may re-enroll at the college if you earn a minimum 2.0 grade point average based on GPA (1) in each semester or summer session.  While on scholastic probation, if you fail to meet the above requirements in a semester or summer session, you will be placed on scholastic suspension and will not be allowed to register.

Probation I

When your standing is academic probation I, you are required to..

  • Meet with an academic advisor to discuss your academic situation.
  • Commit to a Student Success Plan before registering for classes.
  • Register for classes with your academic advisor.

Probation II

When your standing is academic probation II, you are required to:

  • Meet with an academic advisor to discuss your academic situation.
  • Commit to a Student Success Plan before registering for classes.
  • Register for classes with your academic advisor.
  • Enroll in a Human Development course.
  • Register for no more than 9 credit hours before current semester grades are posted.
  • Register for no more than 12 credit hours for the next semester.

Note:  your financial aid status may be in jeopardy due to your academic standing.

Probation III

When your standing is academic probation III, you are required to:

  • Meet with an academic advisor to discuss your academic situation.
  • Commit to a Student Success Plan before registering for classes.
  • Register for classes with your academic advisor.
  • Enroll in a Human Development course.
  • Register for no more than 6 credit hours before current semester grades are posted.
  • Register for no more than 9 credit hours for the next semester.

Note:  your financial aid status may be in jeopardy due to your academic standing.

Scholastic Suspension

If you are on scholastic probation and become ineligible to re-enroll, you will be suspended from the College for not less than one semester. After you have served a first suspension, you may petition for readmission.  If readmission is approved, you may then continue to re-enroll with completion of a semester or summer session with a GPA of 2. 0 or greater.

Academic Dismissal

If you do not meet the required standards and are placed on continued scholastic suspension for a second time, you will be academically dismissed for a period of 12 months.  Prior to applying for readmission, you must present to the admissions committee a written explanation of how you plan to improve your academic standing.  You may be readmitted on continued scholastic probation, and your coursework and total hours may be limited.

Indefinite Academic Dismissal

If you are readmitted after having been on scholastic suspension and academic dismissal, and subsequently fail to achieve a GP
A(1) of 2.0 or greater, you shall be placed on in definite academic dismissal.  After a period of more than 12 months, only the vice president of Student Development or designee may recommend you for readmission.

It is your responsibility to understand and comply with the College's academic standards and procedures.

If you are on academic suspension or academic dismissal from another institution, you are ineligible for admission to the College unless you have met the academic standards required by the College.
