My teaching senses dictate a strong foundation in technique so the student can develop confidence in image making.  My background in the studio arts was rooted in the basics of strong academics.  I carry that teaching sensibility with me today. I want to take photography to them as a medium they can use to make unique images and still mass-produce pictures they love.

I completed graduate studies with exemplary marks and positive critique of my work. I exhibit strong initiative in independent thinking and task creation. I believe in solid technical skills as a strong foundation for creating exceptional photographic works. I maintain a small darkroom and studio near downtown Dallas, working when I can on small photographic projects and jobs.

1983-1987 Bachelor of Fine Arts Studio Art, Southern Methodist University

1990-1992 Master of Fine Arts Photography, University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign

The dynamic relationship between people and their visual attachment to themselves and their space is a consistent theme in my photographs.  Whether that connection is real or fabricated does not matter because it feels right to make it.  Sometimes, even though cluttered with people and objects, the relationship is detached, looking in at what it wants to be or needs to stop. That dynamic may not always be healthy or real but it allows me to judge me, or what I pretend to be.  My relationships have increased with time as well with clutter.  Organized photographic clutter narrates my connections.  Clutter is love, family, sex, things, and photographs.  I can't be without.
