(Mesquite, TX) – Eastfield College is pleased to announce the addition of Computerized Modular Mathematics (CMM) for Fall 2011. This program combines best practices of lecture, online and independent study designs.
Courses offered in the CMM are: DMAT 0090, DMAT 0097, DMAT 0098, DMAT 0099 and MATH 1314. All courses are available in both traditional 8-week and 16-week terms. Students enrolling in 8-week sections will benefit from daily class meetings and the ability to complete multiple courses in a single semester.
CMM's curriculum is individualized to each student's unique needs. Pretests indicate knowledge of specific objectives. Each student's homework assignments will exclude concepts that have been mastered. This will allow students to proceed in an efficient manner without sacrificing course content.
CMM students will have the advantage of receiving mini-lecture and one-on-one support during each class meeting. This format will clarify and reinforce concepts as students work through computer based homework, quizzes and tests. Along with the instructor of record, a supplemental instructor will be present to assist students. The active presence of two instructors ensures that students' questions will be promptly addressed as they arise.
"Many who pursue higher education are discovering that their previous learning has not prepared them for the rigor of college level coursework," says Yolanda Manzano, Instructor. "This challenge can be particularly daunting in mathematics. Eastfield College's developmental mathematics program has multitude of learning options to address students' unique learning styles. Despite the diverse array of available programs, data indicated a need for further transformation to better serve our students. As with all courses at Eastfield, the goal of CMM is student success. All CMM components have been created with this in mind. With the aid and feedback of instructors and students, CMM's framework will be continuously revised and refined to meet student needs. The support of dedicated, enthusiastic instructors will compel students to complete their course of study and achieve their educational goals."
