Ethics & Consumer Protection

The Texas Department of Insurance has authorized Eastfield College as a registered provider of the Ethics and Consumer Protection course for agents and adjusters licensed under the Texas Insurance Code.
                          
The Ethics and Consumer Protection course is designed for all agents subject to Continuing Education who must complete at least half their hours in a classroom setting or as classroom-equivalent. The 8 hours of classroom training is designed for:

  • General Lines Agents,
  • Managing General Agents,
  • Adjusters (all types),
  • Life & Health Insurance Counselors,
  • Insurance Service Representatives
  • Full-Time Home Office Employees
  • Limited Lines Agents
  • Life Insurance Not Exceeding $15K Agents,
  • County Mutual Agents

Upon successful completion of this course, the agent will enhance their knowledge, understanding and professional competence of the following topics:

The Unfair Claim Settlement Practices Act
Notice of Settlement of Liability Claims
Ethical Behavior of an insurance company
Ethical Behavior of an agent or adjuster
Duties of insurer/HMO to agents/clients
Difference between ethics and laws
Business Ethics
