Emergency Medical Technician

The Emergency Medical Technician program is on temporary hiatus. Please check back with us to see when it will be offered again.

The Emergency Medical Technician course is designed for people who wish to become Emergency Medical Technicians. Graduates will function in the pre-hospital care and emergency medical environment at the Texas Department of Health EMT and American Heart Association – Health Care Provider level.

Course requirements are:

  • 18 years of age at the completion of program
  • High School Diploma or GED (Provide copy - First Day of Class)
  • CPR with AED Certified    Required Prior To 1st Day of Class
  • Ability to lift 125 lbs. alone, 250 lbs. with assistance
  • Ability to read as well as communicate in English
  • Tuberculin test administered prior to clinical
  • Students will be required to complete the Hepatitis B immunization series prior to patient contact during clinicals
  • Background Check performed prior to first of class  www.certifiedbackground.com
  • Drug Screen - 10 panel  - Prior to first of class
  • Personal Interview with Program Director Prior to Registration

Classes are held at 3330 N Galloway at the NCTI Mesquite campus.  EMSP 1060 will be offered the following the successful completion of the class room work. After completing both EMSP 1001 and EMSP 1060, a student may request the Texas Department of Health Services Certification Exam and the National Registry exam.
