International Teachers wearing red bandanas, a Texas welcoming gift during their ice-cream social.
On June, 26, 2009, twenty-five teachers recruited internationally through DISD's Alternative Certification Program, will be taking courses in the weekend college program of the ESL Teaching Academy. The teachers are from Mexico, Panama, Phillippines, Venezuela, Honduras, Kenya, and Brazil. They will be at Eastfield through mid August. During their stay, the international teachers will be hosted by the Arts, Languages and Literature Division. They participated in a breakfast session and will also participate in an ice-cream social. Dr. Veronica Pasternac, Instructional Specialist for DISD Alternative Certification, and Maria Caratini Prado, Program Director for ESL and the ESL Teaching Academy, are in charge of the partnership, which is in its third year.
