Children

For all children under the age of 18, parents must complete a DCCCD Minor Student Emergency Health Release form before the class begins. Pick up form in the Continuing Education office during regular business hours. For students under the age of 15, a parent needs to sign student in and out of every class session.

Math Homework Tutoring - DMAZ 1000    $95.00
Semester-long, individualized math tutoring program for school children grade 3 and older. Show instructor what type of math you want to understand better. Students need to bring own school textbook, homework, quizzes, and tests. Please bring own pencils and notebook paper.

Swim Classes

Minimum age 7. American Red Cross Learn to Swim classes. Parent and child first day orientation at pool; Parent must complete Minor Release form.  Children be prepared to also get in water. Parent must sign child in and out at pool desk every class day.

Swim: Beginner (age 7+) - CHPZ 1000     $78.00
Minimum age 7 years. Parent must attend parent orientation meeting the first day of class. This American Red Cross approved course is designed for children. Students will   jump and step into water; exit pool using side and ladder; tread using arms and leg motions; move in water while wearing life jacket;  submerge; float and glide on front and back; swim on front and back using combined strokes; swim on side.  A skill test will be given at the end of the course. Girls need to wear one piece bathing suit.

An American Red Cross approved course.  Course designed for children age 7 or older who have passed the beginners class. Students will be tested first day of class and divided into the various American Red Cross swim levels. The class emphasizes the skills needed for recreational swimming. A skill test will be given at the end of the course. Girls need to wear one piece bathing suit. Parent must attend the first class.

Guitar Beginners I Children - CHLZ 1000  $110.00
For ages 7 thru 11. E-mail instructor James Schreffler  (jschreffler@dcccd.edu) or e-mail Rachel Loss-Cutler (rachel_loss-cutler@earthlink.net)  for advice on purchasing guitar. Bring your own non-electric guitar (nylon strings recommended) and have fun learning to play easy melodies and songs. Instructor will also give instruction on reading music notation. Books will be discussed in first class.  Recital at end of semester in F117.

Guitar I Teens - CHLZ 1000 $110.00
For ages 12 thru 18 , this beginning level course will teach music note reading and the basics of playing a guitar. Bring your own acoustic (not electric) guitar with nylon strings and footrest. Emphasis will be on performance as an ensemble, but solo performance is also encouraged. Textbook will be discussed in first class.  Recital at end of course in F117 for family and friends.
