What is a certificate program?

A certificate program is a grouping of related courses designed to enhance marketable skills and promote students in the job market.

How do I earn a program certificate?

Successfully complete each course in the program, and demonstrate proficiency in required areas.

For example:

Word Processing Certificate

You must complete the following courses:

  • Introduction to Personal Computers
  • Windows
  • Word Processing I, II & III
  • Computer elective
  • Contemporary Job Search Skills

Are there prerequisites for each certificate program?

Yes. The prerequisites will vary from program to program. Prerequisites are listed under each certificate and course description.

How long do I have to complete a certificate program?

Students must complete course work in two years. Exceptions may be considered on an individual basis.

Who keeps track of the courses that I have taken?

Successful students will receive a certificate at the end of each course. After all required courses for the certificate program have been completed, present copies of the certificates and local transcripts to the Continuing Education office. The office will then issue a program certificate. Please note: Some certificate programs require a competency exam before a certificate is issued.

How do I register for a certificate program?

Simply enroll into the courses that are listed under the certificate program.
