Welcome to the Eastfield College Honors Program

Are you interested in improving your chances of transferring to a university honors program and gaining a scholarship?
If so, apply to the Eastfield College Honors Program! 

 Honors Courses Offered Fall 2013:

  • Biology for Science Majors (BIOL 1406)
  • History of the United States (HIST 1301)
  • College Algebra (MATH 1314)
  • Introduction to Speech Communication (SPCH 1311)

Minimum requirements for admission:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 for entering freshmen or current students who have completed at least 12 hours of transferable college credit
  • Accuplacer met for reading and writing
  • Good standing with Eastfield College and/or previous institutions attended
  • Completion of:
    1. The Honors Program Application Form.
    2. An honors essay based on a question in the application.
    3. Receipt of two recommendation forms. One must be from a former instructor and the second may be from an instructor or an advisor/ counselor familiar with your academic work.

Benefits to Students in the Honors Program:

  • Access to honors classes that are limited to no more than 20-25 students
  • Access to honors classes taught in an interactive and intellectually stimulating manner to promote greater depth of knowledge, understanding, and critical thinking
  • Fellowship with other motivated students who share common goals
  • Assignment to an honors faculty mentor Honors Program completion designation on transcripts.
  • Honors Program Completion Certificate
  • Facilitation of the transition into a similar program at a transfer institution.
  • Enhanced ability to qualify for transfer scholarships
    Completion of the honors program:
  • Completion of at least 12 hours of honors courses in the Eastfield Honors Program, with a GPA of at least 3.5.
  • Minimum GPA2 of 3.5 overall
  • Completion of at least 30 hours of service learning and attendance in at least four Leadership Academy workshops and completion of reflection papers on each.

Graduating from the Honors Program

  • Completion of at least 12 hours of honors courses in the Eastfield Honors Program, with a GPA of at least 3.5.
  • Minimum GPA2 of 3.5 overall
  • Completion of at least 30 hours of service learning
  • Attendance in at least four Leadership Academy workshops and completion of reflection papers on each
