My name is Robert Escobedo, and I came to Gateway to College ready for a change but without a clue to how I should stand. GtC has helped me in so many different ways, but motivation is the biggest. It has helped me and enabled me to pick my grades up and actually care about my education. One huge difference in my life is that I now actually want an education and a career. GtC has encouraged me to set these goals for myself. This program is good for a lot of people that actually want to do something with their lives, not only by getting dual credit but by preparing us for a career that we can look forward to with hope and excitement.
Hi! My name is Maria Arshad. Gateway to College has been a great blessing for me. All the professors in this program are very helpful and they motivate us to do and be our best in every class. When I came to GtC, I only had 4 credits, but now I am a senior and I am going to graduate in 2012. It has changed my life and made me feel that I can be a successful person. Being a part of GtC is amazing, and I am grateful for the opportunity.
My name is Tiffany Lee Carpenter, and I am the first in my family to attend college and will be the first to walk across the stage to earn a high school diploma. I enrolled in the Gateway to College program in December of 2010 where I officially became an Eastfield College student earning dual credit. While here, I have set many goals for myself. In the short term, I am graduating and getting my high school diploma in May of 2012. On top of that, I will have earned 28 dual credit hours with a 3.25 GPA to go towards my associates degree in arts. In the summer of 2012, I plan on enrolling into cosmetology school so I will have a means to support myself. My long term goals are to transfer to a 4-year university like UNT or the Art Institute of Dallas to earn a bachelors degree in art. I want to major in design because it has a wide variety of choices for me such as: fashion, make up, cosmetology and branding my own line of merchandise.
