Peer Mentoring

Peer Mentoring Goal: To provide a sense of belonging to TRiO/SSS students who are new to college. Increase level of campus awareness, involvement and guidance with a supportive non-judgmental environment by partnering them with knowledgeable and successful peers.

Hello, my name is Christine Benson. I am a sophomore at Eastfield College, and this is my second year with TRiO program. I am pursuing an Associate in Science Degree here at Eastfield. My GPA is 3.5. My major is Kinesiology and I plan on becoming an Athletic Trainer. I am excited about having the opportunity to be a peer mentor. I plan on helping students succeed in college, and being there for them when they need help.

My name is Jolene Strubberg, and I am a sophomore at Eastfield College. I have been a member of TRiO/SSS for more than two years. I am currently pursuing an Associates degree in Criminal Justice. My major is Criminal Law, and my GPA is 3.6.  I am currently working as a Peer Mentor with the TRiO/SSS. I love to help my fellow students achieve their academic goals. The TRiO/SSS staff has been very helpful during my academic career and I now wish to pass on the same level of care and assistance to others.

My name is Jade Marshall. I have been a member of TRiO/SSS for two years. My major is Nursing and I hold a GPA of 3.8. I plan to transfer to the University of Texas at Arlington or Texas Women’s University. In Fall 2010 I became a peer mentee; I am now a Peer Mentor.  I love to help people succeed in life and I love what I do and look forward to making a difference in someone’s life.

My name is Emem Akpanumun. I have been a member of TRiO/SSS for two years. My major is Nursing and I hold a GPA of 4.0. I am a Peer Mentor, Department Assistant and work as aTRiO/SSS Tutor with concentration in Biology.  It is wonderful to have such an opportunity to help student excel in their academics. I love what I do and look forward to making a difference in someone’s life.

My name is Ogheneovo Edward Ejus. I am a student of Eastfield College and also a member of TRIO/SSS. I am currently pursuing an Associate in Science degree and I hold a G.P.A of 3.67. My major is Nursing.  I am currently working as an Ambassador of Peer Mentoring. I love helping students. The TRIO/SSS staffs are so helpful, nice, well organized and knowledgeable. As a result of being in TRIO/SSS, I have learned a lot and still learning and I look forward to helping others  along the way. I love my job.

I am currently a sophomore at Eastfield College and have been member of TRiO for close to two years now, and it has been a great experience.  I am currently pursuing an Associate in Science, with a major in Biology and hold a Grade Point Average of 3.66. In Fall 2012, I received a chance to be a TRiO Ambassador, with great hope of becoming a Peer Mentor. I believe we can all learn from each other, regardless of age, sex, etc. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a representative and a mentor of students in need. I plan to transfer to University of Texas at Arlington to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology

My major is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. My GPA is 3.6. I am currently working as a Student Assistant with the TRiO/SSS. I love to help my fellow student. The TRiO/SSS staff has been so helpful, friendly and organized. With the tools I have learned from TRiO/SSS I am  assured that I will be successful in  my academic journey.
