Talent Search is a federally funded program. It is designed to encourage economically disadvantaged youth to complete high school, enter and complete college. It also helps disadvantaged adults with secondary/post-secondary education.
How Can I Become A Participant of Educational Talent Search?
The federal government mandates that two-thirds of the students served by ETS programs meet the following criteria:
- Low income
- United States Citizen or permanent resident status
- First generation college student
- Possess the academic potential to succeed in college
This criteria can be determined by completing an ETS application. As part of the ETS application process, potential participants will need to provide the following documentation:
- Parent(s) income
- Parent(s) education (signed statement)
- Proof of citizenship, permanent residency, or other documentation from INS proving that the student is in the United States for other than a temporary purpose.
- If you should have any questions or concerns regarding the application process or if you would like to learn more about ETS, please contact the ETS office.
The program is designed to motivate and support students by offering an array of educational opportunities. The success of our students will impact not only their families but also the community as a whole. Our goal is to leave a lasting impression on our students and instill in them the confidence needed to succeed not only in Pleasant Grove, but also wherever their endeavors take them. Nationally, there are over 302,000 Americans enrolled in 319 TRIO Educational Talent Search programs.
