My need to read usually won out as I drifted
into teaching when I was offered a graduate fellowship. I have taught
at the college level since 1965 at Texas Tech University, at Dalton College
(a community college in north Georgia), and at Eastfield College since
its opening in 1970.
At
present, with my wife Shaeron, I like to travel, collect antique pain
relief tins, read, write for publication, and play golf. Favorite
authors are William Faulkner and William Styron. I have published
three dozen articles, reviews and short stories with my favorite being
a narrative on attending a family reunion ("Reunion"
published in the Dallas Morning News). My favorite unpublished story
is "To Be Bobby Lokey," a story loosely
based on a young man I met briefly when I was a seventh grader in Big
Spring, Texas many years ago. This story was my contribution to the 2003
Eastfield Arts Exposition Week and was read by Theatre Professor Bob Erwin.
When I can, I like to escape to Ruidoso, New Mexico to read, write and
play golf at the Inn of
the Mountain Gods.
I have linked some of my favorite internet sites for you to view.
