For me, teaching and writing are inextricably linked. It is very difficult
for me to imagine
not
doing both. I attended East Texas State University (now Texas A&M
in Commerce) where I earned a B.A. in English and French in 1985 and an
M.A. in English in 1995. I have taught at Eastfield College, Collin County
Community College, and Texas A&M in Commerce. Between degrees I worked
as a sacker in a grocery store and as a secretary, scheduler, technical
writer, and janitor. I have also worked as a tutor, a recorder of textbooks
for handicapped students, and as a security guard.
No
matter where I worked or what I did, one could almost always find
me with a book and something to write with. Even before I knew that
I should be a teacher, I found myself naturally drawn to explaining
things either to others or to myself.
I spend much of my time with my wife and five children. I read as often as I can and write constantly. From time to time, one of my little compositions reaches publication. I post some of my work on my website and also keep a weblog. I am a very amateur musician and like to listen to mostly jazz and progressive rock. I watch basketball and hockey on television when I can.
