Personalized System of Instruction (PSI)

Introduction

In the PSI class, there is no group instruction.  Instead, your instructor will provide individual help and work with you on a one-to-one basis. This is not a self-paced class although there are some elements of that mode of instruction. Class attendance is required.

Features of the Personalized System of Instruction (PSI) Classes

• The personalized Developmental Math courses are taught together, in one room, at the same time.  Thus, your class will include students at all levels working side by side. 
• A flexible testing schedule allows you some choice about when you take a test.
• The possibility of completing more than one course is available for those who can work fast.
• One-to-one instruction allows you to get help on your individual problems.
• Work-texts, with all the answers, allow plenty of practice opportunities.
• Practice exams are available to help you decide if you are ready for the real thing.
• Class attendance is required.
• Absences can be made up with “class visits”.
• You may visit additional classes for additional help.

Developmental Math Courses

The purpose of Developmental Math is to strengthen your mathematics skills to make it possible for you to take degree-level math courses.  You do receive college credit for these Developmental Math courses, but they do not count toward any degree.  All four of these Developmental Math courses are included in this PSI Section:
