Eastfield College Welcomes New Music Professor

Melinda Imthurn(Mesquite, TX) – Eastfield College would like to welcome its newest Professor of Music Melinda Imthurn. Coming from Mountain View College, where she successfully built a new choral program to serve the students and campus, Imthurn will be the new Choral Director and a private voice instructor. She was educated in vocal pedagogy and choral techniques at Texas Woman's University in Denton.

In addition to her duties at Eastfield, Imthurn is Artistic Director of the renowned Women's Chorus of Dallas from 2005-present. She will conduct the National Women's Choral Festival in 2012 at Carnegie Hall.

Imthurn's goals for the future include building a choral program to serve both music majors and non-majors. She also hopes to assist in developing a Musical Theater program at Eastfield to present musicals on campus for the school and community. To offer students the opportunity to sing! Chorus and most other music courses offer core credit toward completion of an associate degree.

Chorus, voice class, and private voice are offered at Eastfield as well as a full range of supportive music classes.
