GolfAdult/Teen - PHEZ 1000     $90.00
Prerequisites: age 16 thru Adults
Learn from a professional golfer! Students will be taught proper grip, stance, pivot, driving, approach shots, and putting as well as the rules of etiquette of the game. Equipment is furnished as needed. The  cost is approx. $6 per bucket of balls.  Textbook: USGA Rules of Golf, United States Golf Association (usga.org).  Classes held at Centerville Driving Range, Centerville and Glenbrook Rd, Garland.  Contact instructor’s website  www.juliepyne.com  for map and directions.

Ai Chi Water Relaxation - PHEZ 1000   $75.00
Adults and teens. Come relax in the outdoor pool and gently exercise with breathing techniques to calming music (similar to Tai Chi exercise.) Bring swim suit, towel and swim shoes. Nice indoor locker rooms.

Certifications

Lifeguard/CPR/AED/FA Training Certificate - FITT 1045   $175.00
LIFEGUARD
Prerequisites: MUST ATTEND ALL 8 class sessions to receive certifications. Minimum age 15; swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl for 100 yards, breaststroke for 100 yards, and any combination of the previous strokes for 200 yards; swim 20 yards then surface dive to depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to surface, and swim 20 yards back to start, keep face above the water while holding the 10-pound object with both hands; exit pool without steps or ladder within 1 minute/40seconds.
Instruction will be provided in the knowledge and skills necessary to perform duties of an aquatic lifeguard. Topics include rescue operations, monitoring techniques, first aid and management of emergency situations. Participants will demonstrate various water rescue techniques and explain appropriate emergency procedures.  American Red Cross 3-year Lifeguard certification, 1 year CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and a 3 year First Aid certifications are available upon successful demonstration of all required skills, 3 final skill scenarios and successful 80% completion of written tests for this course. For students under the age of 18, parents must complete an Emergency Treatment form before or at the beginning of class. Please pick up the form in the Continuing Education office in building C room C112, Monday – Thursday 8 am-7 pm or on Fridays from 9 am to 4:30 pm. Call 972-860-7017 to arrange for practicing swimming skills on Saturdays before class begins.

Lifeguard/FA/CPR/AED Recertification - FITT 1045      $100.00
LIFEGUARD
Prerequisites: Participant must have completed Am Red Cross Lifeguard course within the last 4 years and CPR/Aed  within last 2 years. Minimum age 15 and swimming skills. Call 972-860-7113 to get list of skills.
Course includes a review and Challenge tests for recertification for First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Lifeguard Participants may review videos and practice skills. Challenge examinations and demonstration of the knowledge and skills necessary to perform duties of an aquatic lifeguard. Water Safety Instructor - FITT 1046      $175.00
WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR
Prerequisites: Minimum age 16 and required swimming skills. Come to Continuing Education in C112 or call  972-860-7113 to receive list of prerequisite swim skills and minor form for those under 18.
American Red Cross 2 parts: Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT), and Water Safety Instructor Certificate Training (WSI) provided. Instruction will include knowledge and skills necessary to teach Parent and Child Aquatics, Water Safety Outreach classes,  and American Red Cross Learn To Swim Program Levels 1 thru 6.  American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification is available for those who successfully participate in ALL course activities and complete all assignments; demonstrate instructor candidate competencies, and pass a written test with 80% accuracy. TEXTBOOKS: Water Safety Instructor Manual (American Red Cross) , Fundamentals of Instructor Training,  Swimming and Water Safety ), Raffy Learns to Swim, and Waddles in the Deep.  Books can be purchased in College bookstore. Deep Water Hydrobics - PHEZ 1000     $75.00
Prerequisites: Student knows how to swim and is comfortable in deep water.
Come join us in our outdoor heated swimming pool with indoor locker rooms with showers for our no-sweat program of water exercise in Deep Water. Increase your flexibility, stamina and improve your muscle tone. Water adds resistance and relaxes and massages the body. Instructors’ approach emphasizes slow stretching and endurance to prevent cramps and injuries. The workout level depends on each person’s exertion. Please bring bathing suit and towel, and flotation belt, frog hands (resistance gloves), and ankle weights.
