LE: Basic Peace Officer II - CJLE 1012           $300.00
BASIC PEACE OFFICER II
Course Description: Basic preparation for a new peace officer. Covers field note taking, report writing, “use of force” law and concepts, problem solving, multiculturalism, professional policing approaches, patrol procedures, victims of crime, family violence, MHMR, crowd management, HAZMAT, and criminal investigation. This course taken in conjunction with Basic Peace Officer I, III, and IV will satisfy the TCLEOSE-approved Basic Peace Officer Academy. Students must enroll for Basic Peace Officer I, II, III and IV. Course Level: Introductory. Students must successfully complete Basic Peace Officer I(CJLE 1006), II (CJLE 1012) III (CJLE 1018) and IV (CJLE 1024) to graduate and must pass Exit Examination w/85%+ to sit for TCLEOSE exam.

LE: Basic Peace Officer III - CJLE 1018          $300.00
BASIC PEACE OFFICER III
Basic preparation for a new peace officer. Covers laws pertaining to controlled substances, crowd management, personal property, and crime scene investigation. This course taken in conjunction with Basic Peace Officer I, II, and IV will satisfy the TCLEOSE-approved Basic Peace Officer Academy. ***THIS COURSE MAY BE OFFERED ONLY BY INSTITUTIONS LICENSED AS A POLICE ACADEMY BY THE TEXAS COMMISSION ON LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER  STANDARDS AND EDUCATION (TCLEOSE). Students must successfully complete Basic Peace Officer I(CJLE 1006), II (CJLE 1012) III (CJLE 1018) and IV (CJLE 1024) to graduate and must pass Exit Examination w/85%+ to sit for TCLEOSE exam.

LE: Basic Peace Officer IV - CJLE 1024          $300.00
BASIC PEACE OFFICER IV
Prerequisites: Must have complete BPO, I, II or III before being eligible to enter this 4th phase.
Includes Professional Police Driving, Problem Solving Techniques, Interviewing and Interrogating, handling abnormal persons, and jail operations, Preparation of Criminal Case, Driving and Other practical demonstration areas. This course taken in conjunction with Basic Peace Officer I, II, and III will satisfy the TCLEOSE-approved Basic Peace Officer Training Academy. Students must enroll for Basic Peace Officer I, II,III, and IV to satisfy TCLEOSE requirements. Course Level: Introductory. Students must successfully complete Basic Peace Officer I(CJLE 1006), II (CJLE 1012) III (CJLE 1018) and IV (CJLE 1024) to graduate and must pass Exit Examination w/85%+ to sit for TCLEOSE exam.

Intermediate Officer Training

LE: Intermediate Arrest, Search and Seizure - CJLE 1049        $75.00
INTERMEDIATE ARREST, SEARCH AND SEIZURE
Prerequisites: Must be a licensed peace officer or have permission from Program Director.
Topics include probable cause; detention and arrest;  exceptions to search warrant requirements; principles of preparing valid search warrants; pretrial suppression hearings; and civil liability for improper arrests, searches, and seizures. Students are require to devlop arrest warrants and search warrants. Course Level: Intermediate.

LE: Statutory Auth Use of Force - CJLE 1056  $75.00
LE-STATUTORY AUTHORITY USE OF FORCE
Prerequisites: Must be a licensed peace officer or have permission from Program Director.
Study of the use of force including psychological and emotional factors, “use of force” factors, force options, and deadly force. Also includes legal issues such as civil rights complaints, governmental liability, court decisions, and vicarious liability. TCLEOSE intermediate core course #2107. Course Level: Intermediate.

LE: Interm Child Abuse Prev&Inves - CJLE 2003        $100.00
INTERMEDIATE CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION AND INVESTIGATION
Prerequisites: Must be a licensed peace officer or have permission from Program Director.
A study of child abuse theories and components of good parenting; emotional neglect and abuse; characteristics, dynamics, and  indicators of physical neglect and abuse; initial investigative procedures and  strategies; injury identification and investigation; interview strategies and  techniques. Topics also include special investigative issues, interrogation  techniques, runaway children, Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory  Services (DPRS), Texas Crime Victims Rights and Crime Victims  Compensation Act, uniform crime reporting, family violence, and interagency cooperation and teamwork.

INTERMEDIATE CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION

Topics include objectives, preparations, procedures, and methods of crime scene search; value of crime scene sketches and their  relationship to crime scene photographs; fingerprints as physical evidence,  fingerprint identification and classification, types of impressions and techniques  for locating and developing impressions.

SPECIAL TOPICS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT/POLICE SCIENCE

Study of the relationship between Hispanic Americans, History of Hispanic Americans and cultural backgrounds, Myths and Stereotypes about Hispanic Americans, Illegal aliens, traditional roles of men and women in the Hispanic culture, stress and its relationship to language and communication, establishing trust with Hispanic community, non-verbal conversation, emotional expression, derogatory language, basic understanding and a working knowledge of learning to speak everyday Spanish, basic and indispensable means of communication in Spanish. Course Level: Introductory.

LE-CULTURAL DIVERSITY
Prerequisites: Must be a licensed peace officer or have permission from Program Director.
Study of the relationship between cultural awareness  and the police profession. Topics include cultural heritage, workforce diversity, human rights/discrimination, communication, benefits of valuing diversity, and effective cultural contacts. Must meet requirements of TCLEOSE course #3939. Partial fulfillment of the requirements of 415.034 Texas Government Code. Course Level: Introductory.

LE-EXPANDABLE BATON TRAINING
Prerequisites: Must be a licensed peace officer or have permission from Program Director.
A study of the skill and knowledge needed to use the tactical baton including topics on the proper use of force, maintenance, strike zones, and documentation in the use of the baton. Meets requirements for TCLEOSE 3300.

Preparation of new supervisors for their supervisory role. Topics include values, ethics, principles, communication, leadership styles, cultural diversity, racial sensitivity, planning, and organizing. Meets requirements of Section 415.034 Texas Government Code, continuing education for new supervisors. Must conform to TCLEOSE course #3737 Course Level: Introductory.

LE: OC Spray Certification - CJLE 2000          $25.00
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: CRIMINAL JUSTICE POLICE SCIENCE
Prerequisites: Must be licensed peace officer or have permission from Program Director Neal Wilson x 7689.
Study of the history and usage of O.C. Spray, Use of Force Applications, effects on individuals. To be certified students are required to experience a “hit” with O.C. Spray. Students should wear old throw away clothing, bring a change of clothes and two (2) towels.
