NOTE: only the front (stem) changes, not the end.

First Class System – Changing Verbs - e-ie 
In all forms of the verb except the nosotros form.  Some important verbs in this class are.

Second Class System- Changing verbs  -- e-ie

Third Class System-changing verbs  -- e-i

The Present Participle- (Present Progressive)  -o to –u 
Certain verbs having -o in the first syllable, change from -o to –u    

Volver remains  volviendo; however words ending in –eer and -ir beome -yendo                   

Note spelling  of the  words ending in -ga, -gue, -go, -gu

Verbs whose infinitives end in –uir take a y in all forms of the present tense except in the nosotros form

Stem Changing In The Preterito (Past Tense)
The  2nd and 3rd Class  -e r/ -ir verbs have a stem change in both the Present and Past  tense forms, changing the -.er or –ir to –i in the third person singular and plural.

Words ending in –CER and  -CIR
Most of these verbs are irregular in the first person singular. The –e changes to –z before the
 -c and becomes –zc

Saber is also irregular in the present tense
