A student, just yesterday, commented that this professor was " someone you just knew, no matter what your problem was, she would devote all her energies to not only listening to you, but trying to help you." When I asked the student to explain the importance of that characteristic, the reply was quick. "I can't think of anything more important to my success, as a student ,than a professor who takes the time to care about me beyond mastering the subject they teach."
