Rare, because of the fact
that students majoring in science research disciplines
at four-year institutions don't get the hands-on experience
using the SEM equipment until they begin their graduate
study work.
But at Eastfield and because
of the Project Pathways program, our students not only
learn how to use this equipment, but a select few have
become knowledgeable enough to assist in training other
students as well as faculty who are interested in learning
this new technology.
That's what
AYROP is all about! It's Mentorship! It's Internship!
It's a Job!
AYROP students work in
the SEM laboratory under the direction of the grants'
Principal Investigator and professor of biology, Dr.
Carl Knight and The SEM laboratory coordinator, Ms.
Jessica Silva.
