Our new Scanning Electron Microscopy facility – centered around the Hitachi S-3400N VP SEM and the TM-1000 "Tabletop" Model – plays a critical role in achieving Project Pathways objectives.

Both the S-3400N and the transportable TM-1000 are used extensively as research tools for our students, through collaboration with established research programs at four year universities.

UTSW summer research image

Each summer, the STARS (Science Teacher Access to Resources) program at UT Southwestern Medical Center offers opportunities for students to work one-on-one for eight weeks with faculty research scientists on investigative projects using major scientific instrumentation in a laboratory setting.

Each student gives an oral presentation of their experimental results and present highlights of their experience to classmates at their home campus.
