To Make a 3-D Stereo Image for Viewing with Red-Blue Glasses:

1) Pay attention to the height and position of the specimen during mounting, as it will look better if it is not flattened against the stub.

2) In the utility menu, set raster rotation to 90 degrees.

3) In the condition menu, show the scroll bar.

4) Use the rotation and/or tilt controls to find an interesting 3-D angle on the specimen. Make note of its position with respect to the crosshairs.

5) Capture Image 1.

6) Tilt the stage 5-10 degrees in either direction from original position.

7) Use the X/Y controls and the crosshairs to put the specimen back in its original location.

8) Capture Image 2.

9) Transfer both images to PCI.

10) From the PCI process menu, select stero pair. Make sure the correct pair of images are hilighted to make the composite image. Use the setting for red-blue glasses. Click OK to produce the new file.

11) Drag with the mouse to align the center portion of the red and blue images in the composite file. Preview the image with 3-D glasses. Depending on whether red or blue is on the left, you may have to flip the glasses.

12) Save the stereo image file under a separate name.
