The Gunnison / Crested Butte Area
Due to its location on the valley, cold air easily lingers in
Gunnison. Normal July averages are high 80°F during the
summer with nightly lows around 45°F.
Rocky Mountain Columbine, the Colorado state flower
Dazzling canvases of wildflowers are on display in the
summer, none more abundant than in the meadows and
mountains surrounding Crested Butte, the Wildflower
Capital of Colorado. If Mother Nature prevails, Renewal
Week closely coincides with the annual Wildflower
Festival, when the wildflowers are at their peak.
Founded in 1909, the
city of Gunnison is the
educational center, for
the surrounding area,
rich in beauty and
culture.
