Peer Mentoring Goal: To provide a sense of belonging to TRiO/SSS students who are new to college. Increase level of campus awareness, involvement and guidance with a supportive non-judgmental environment by partnering them with knowledgeable and successful peers.
Biographies for 2011-2012 Peer Mentors
My name is Tragan Knight or (Tray). I am a sophomore at Eastfield College and have been member of TRiO for two years. I am currently pursuing an Associate in Science and hold a GPA of 3.27. In Fall 2009 I received a chance to be a peer mentee; it was so instrumental to the development of my academic success that I decided to become a Peer Mentor. I am grateful for the opportunity to mentor students in the same way I was mentored. I plan to transfer to University of Arkansas to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
My name is Emem Akpanumun. I have been a member of TRiO/SSS for one year. My major is nursing and I hold a GPA of 4.0. I am a Peer Mentor and work as aTRiO/SSS tutor with my concentration in Biology. It is wonderful to have such an opportunity to help student excel in their academic. I love what I do and look forward to making a difference in someone’s life.
My name is Idongesit Edet. I am a sophomore at Eastfield College. I have been a member of TRiO/SSS for more than a year now. I am currently pursuing an Associate in Science. My major is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. My GPA is 3.6. I am currently working as a Peer Mentor with the TRiO/SSS. I love to help my fellow student. The TRiO/SSS staff has been so helpful, friendly and organized. With the tools I have learned from TRiO/SSS I am assured that I will be successful in my academic journey.
