Tutoring Services
The Goal of TRiO/SSS tutoring is to aid student retention by:
- Helping students develop positive attitudes and confidence in their ability to learn.
Services to Students:
- The TRiO/SSS program offers tutoring in Math, Science, Developmental Writing and Reading, English Composition 1 and 2 and Computer Literacy.
- TRIO/SSS maintains reference material such as textbooks, videos, and dictionaries. Due to textbook changes each semester, TRIO/SSS is unable to maintain a collection of current texts.
- Special emphasis programs and workshops
Tutoring Procedures
- Students may begin requesting tutoring two weeks prior to classes starting and continue throughout the semester.
- Students must receive a referral from their TRIO/SSS Advisor.
- Tutoring will only be offered for classes in which the student is currently enrolled.
- Students will receive the first available tutor in the specific subject area they are requesting.
- Students will receive up to 3 hours of regularly scheduled individual tutoring per week for each 3 credit hour course.
Funding for the TRiO/Student Support Services program is provided
by the U.S. Department of Education.
