10 Quick Tips for Applying for Financial Aid

In order to be considered for financial aid, be sure you complete all of the 10 steps below. If these steps are not completed you will be responsible for paying tuition and fees.

  1. Apply early. FAFSA becomes available January 1 (www.fafsa.ed.gov)
  2. Complete the Admissions application online at www.econnect.dcccd.edu. Set up eConnect.
  3. Submit ALL College Transcripts to Admission Office in C-119
  4. Select your Program of Study via eConnect
  5. Apply for a DCCCD Money Card via eConnect
  6. Sign up for your FREE Eastfield Email account via eConnect (NETMAIL)
  7. Once notified, review your Student Aid Report (SAR) at www.fafsa.ed.gov
  8. Respond to any and all Email requests sent from DCCCD
  9. Ensure all documentation is signed & has been received by FA office in C-237
  10. Activate awards on eConnect immediately upon receiving Award Notification

Fall & Spring- July 30th; Spring Only-December 3rd; Summer-May 30th

Academic Year (Fall & Spring) July 30
Spring Semester December 3
Summer I Session (Supplemental Application required) May 30

Items you would need to apply for FAFSA online:

  • Previous year federal tax return   
  • W-2 forms from previous year
  • Records of untaxed income, such as pension payments and tax-exempt interest income 
  • Student’s Social Security Number and, if applicable, driver’s license number   
  • Parents information will be needed for dependent students
  • If you own a business, the company’s financial statements or corporate tax return
  • Records of any child support paid or received  
  • If you are a permanent resident you will need your alien registration number
