The Big Read
Sponsored by SPAR and Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society
The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts designed to revitalize the role of literature in American popular culture and bring the transformative power of literature into the lives of its citizens. Inspired by the classic science fiction novel, Fahrenheit 451, The Big Read will focus on author Ray Bradbury’s haunting denunciation of censorship. Bradbury uses the materials of science fiction to tell the story of Guy Montag, a fireman forced to burn books. Sigma Kappa Delta will be hosting a Photography & Writing Contest in conjunction with the program. For more info, contact SPAR or Dr. Rufel Ramos. |
