Purpose

The purpose of the Eastfield Student Government  is to serve as student representatives on behalf of the student body of Eastfield College.  Student Government members participate in decision making processes of the college, and serve as student representatives on various DCCCD committees.    Student Government representatives take an active role in campus leadership and work towards the mission of Eastfield College.

Term of Service

Representatives serve one complete academic year, from fall through the spring semesters.  The current Student Government Constitution serves as the living document for term limits and membership qualifications.

Responsibilities of representatives

Each representative is expected to work as a leader and ambassador for Eastfield College. Responsibilities include:

1. Maintain active membership as described in the Student Government Constitution.
2. Serve as official ambassadors for the college when specific outside functions or off-campus events are scheduled.
3. Participate in decision-making processes as well as committees that require Student Government representation.
4. Maintain an Email address in order for open communication between members and students.

Student Government Association
Application Information

The Student Government Association serves as the representative body for enrolled credit students at Eastfield College.   The SGA (Student Government Association) is sponsored through the Office of Student Life.

Each fall semester, students may apply for participation in the Student Government Association. Sixteen students serve on the annual Student Government Association from fall through spring semesters.  

Applications are available beginning each fall semester, in the Office of Student Life, Room C-141.  Students applying for SGA participation MUST meet the following requirements, with written proof attached to the application form.

1. Proof of current credit enrollment at Eastfield, taking a minimum of 6.0 credit hours per semester.
2. Transcript from a former college, high school or university.
3. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required.
4. A current Eastfield College credit class paid “fee receipt”.
5. Completed the “Application Form” and turned in by the deadline date.
6. Completed the “Nomination Form” and turned in by the Deadline date.

SGA members MUST be able to attend regular meetings, scheduled 2 Fridays of each month at 12:30pm.   Most meetings last 2-3 hours.  SGA members MUST be able to devote time each week to obligations required in order to serve as a Representative of the SGA.

Student Government representatives will have mailboxes in the Student Life office.  

The Director of Student Life will serve as the liaison for the Student Commissioners.
